چکیده
Information science is entering into a new era in which certain subtleties of quantum mechanics enables large enhancements in computational efficiency and communication security. Naturally, precise control of quantum systems required for the implementation of quantum information processing protocols implies potential breakthoughs in other sciences and technologies. We discuss recent developments in quantum control in optical systems and their applications in metrology and imaging.

متن کاملQuantum Control, Quantum Information Processing, and Quantum-limited Metrology with Trapped Ions
We briefly discuss recent experiments on quantum information processing using trapped ions at NIST. A central theme of this work has been to increase our capabilities in terms of quantum computing protocols, but we have also applied the same concepts to improved metrology, particularly in the area of frequency standards and atomic clocks. Such work may eventually shed light on more fundamental ...
متن کاملQuantum optical metrology – the lowdown on high-N00N states
Quantum states of light, such as squeezed states or entangled states, can be used to make measurements (metrology), produce images, and sense objects with a precision that far exceeds what is possible classically, and also exceeds what was once thought to be possible quantum mechanically. The primary idea is to exploit quantum effects to beat the shot-noise limit in metrology and the Rayleigh d...

Linear Optical approach, has been a very interesting approach among several ways of achieving Quantum Computing and Metrology. Over the past decade there have been a number of theoretical methods developed towards Quantum Computing and Metrology, obviously in an extremely ideal settings. These models are needed to be investigated in more realistic sense,i.e including the effects of loss, which c...

University of Sidney Tremendous research activity worldwide has focused on attempting to harness the exotic properties of quantum physics for new applications in metrology, computation, and communications a push to develop engineered quantum systems. Underlying any such capability is the need to exert control over a chosen quantum system in order to coax it into performing useful tasks. In this...
